In a move set to streamline the process for incoming travellers, Singapore is on the brink of launching an updated version of its digital SG Arrival Card (SGAC). This is the latest development from Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), which aims to improve the user experience with a refreshed interface, broader language options and an optimized submission process.

**The Updated SG Arrival Card: A Snapshot**

In a bid to digitize and simplify the immigration process, the ICA has announced a series of enhancements to the SG Arrival Card. The updated version is set to offer early access via the ICA website from August 26, 2026, before a wider roll-out across its official channels.

This revised SGAC will apply to travellers of all nationalities entering Singapore, including those from the US, Canada, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and other European countries. It’s crucial to note that the SGAC is not a visa but a separate requirement and does not exempt travellers needing visas or entry authorizations.

**Language Expansion in the Updated SG Arrival Card**

One of the most significant updates heralded by the ICA is the extension of languages available on the SG Arrival Card. The current version is available in 12 languages, including English, Malay, Bengali, German, French, Vietnamese, Hindi, Tamil, Thai, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.

With the updated interface, the number of available languages will rise to 19, enhancing accessibility for international travellers. While the ICA hasn’t revealed the seven additional languages yet, this move is expected to offer a more inclusive experience to a wider range of travellers.

**New Features and Improvements**

In addition to expanding the language options, the ICA promises a user-friendly design with “smoother, easier navigation.” The new SGAC boasts a passport autofill feature, designed to expedite the entry of travellers’ personal information. This feature is not entirely new but has been integrated more seamlessly into the new SGAC workflow.

The web version of the updated SG Arrival Card will allow travellers to avoid manually entering some of their personal information. With options to “Retrieve with Passport” and “Retrieve with Visa Reference Number,” the process is set to become more streamlined than ever.

**Transitioning to the Updated SG Arrival Card**

To facilitate a smooth transition, the ICA has assured that travellers entering Singapore during the new interface’s launch will not need to submit two arrival cards. Only one submission will be required, irrespective of whether travellers use the current SGAC system or the updated version.

The main rules governing the arrival card remain unchanged. The SG Arrival Card can be submitted free of charge via the official eservices.ica.gov.sg portal within three days before arrival in Singapore, including the day of arrival.

**What This Means for Investors**

According to Yusuf Boz of Notte Global, the impending updates to the SG Arrival Card signify Singapore’s commitment to enhancing the traveller experience, demonstrating its adaptability and resilience in an ever-changing global landscape. For investors eyeing the city-state, this move showcases Singapore’s continuous efforts to streamline processes and improve its digital infrastructure, making it an even more attractive investment destination.
